Our Focus - Education

For this 2012-2013 school year, the MSU Rotaract club has decided to make it's focus education. As college students, we recognize how important education is, as well as how fortunate we are to have the opportunity for education, while so many others don't. To help children in our community get the most from their education, we will be volunteering at two main locations this semester to benefit children who may need a little extra help.

The Baker Donora Center of Lansing is a place where community members work together to provide resources, education and information programs to strengthen youth, families and individuals in our community. Rotaract helps Baker Donora by mentoring youth, assisting with homework, and helping prepare meals that are given to the children. Located at 840 Baker St. in Lansing, MSU Rotaract will be volunteering at Baker Donora every Tuesday and Thursday from. Stop in whenever you are available between 4:30 and 7pm to help make a difference in your local community. Visit their website at www.bakerdonoracenter.com/.

This semester we are making a real effort to get involved with Reo Elementary School in Lansing. We will be helping in a similar way that we do with Baker Donora. If you are interested in volunteering at Reo, take the first step and bring a copy of your driver's license to our next general meeting. Check it out at the Lansing School District homepage.
